The Likud Party leadership resolved last night that the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River is not acceptable according to the party platform. Minister of Internal Security Uzi Landau, who heads the Central Office, announced that the decision was made unanimously by the some 100 members in attendance. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was informed last week that 800 Central Committee members had signed a petition calling for the committee to convene in light of his recent statements supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state. They wrote that the statements stand in stark contrast the party\'s platform and ideology.
