Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s plans for the economy will drag Israel into “social welfare hell,” Labor party head Shelly Yechimovich said Saturday night.

Yechimovich criticized Netanyahu over a statement that he does not intend to raise taxes.

“Netanyahu is leading the public astray when he says he will not raise taxes,” Yechimovich accused. “Netanyahu is planning social welfare hell, financial chaos and diplomatic isolation.”

“Israeli citizens must not give up this rare opportunity to stop him,” she added.

Netanyahu said Saturday, “I do not intend to raise taxes, I will do everything in my power not to raise taxes.” He added, “I’m being responsible with my commitment – I don’t know if the world markets will collapse, which would change the situation.”
