Protestors from Israel\'s disabled community blocked the street leading to the Knesset in Jerusalem today. Talks last night between representatives of the disabled and the government broke down after three hours. They are demanding that disability pensions be raised to the level of the minimum wage -- a move the government insists is not attainable due to fiscal constraints. Negotiators representing the handicapped accused the government of having nothing new to offer and coming to the meeting totally unprepared. Handicapped activists have been protesting for a month and have won much public support for their struggle. The Histadrut national labor union called for a two-hour strike this morning beginning at 9:00 AM in a show of solidarity with the disabled.
