Foreign Ministry representatives in the world have received a directive to explain that Israel supports the establishment of a Palestinian state within Israel. Such was the answer to an inquiry submitted by the Cities of Israel (Matot Arim) grassroots movement to the Foreign Ministry. Suzie Dym, spokesperson for Cities of Israel, said that the issue is a matter of debate within the unity government, and that ambassadors and consulates overseas should explain both sides. Dym said: \"Although Prime Minister Sharon has expressed support in principle for the idea of a Palestinian state, his statements were not discussed in the government at any point, they contradict official Likud policy, and they are nowhere to be found in the government guidelines. Sharon has told right wing elements of the government that his agreement in principle to an Arab state was a tactic with no practical implications. However, it turns out that the foreign ministry is actively preparing public opinion on behalf of a terrorist state. This is a very worrying development.\"
