An Israeli intelligence delegation currently conducting meetings with senior American officials presented evidence that PLO leader Yasser Arafat established links with Iran as early as last summer. According to information revealed by the delegation, Arafat sent emissaries to meet with Iranian leader Ali Khameini last year and has maintained contacts throughout the post-September 11 period as well.
The information presented in Washington has reportedly convinced the American officials of the existence of a trilateral bond between Iran, the Hizbullah and the Palestinian Authority. Delegation leader Brig. Gen. Yossi Kuperwasser also reported that the Americans have accepted the intelligence information regarding Arafat’s personal involvement in the “Karin A” weapons smuggling operation.
