A forty-one year-old man was arrested for racial harassment during a protest against an Israeli dance company in Birmingham, England on Tuesday evening, The Jewish Chronicle (JC) reported.

Police apprehended the demonstrator, who was part of a group protesting against the internationally acclaimed Batsheva Dance Ensemble, after he had voiced racial slurs about Jews to another attendee.

The group had gathered outside the Birmingham Hippodrome to protest against the first of two shows performed by the youth arm of the Israeli troupe.

Demonstrators had also disrupted the performance several times, as has happened on other stops of the tour in Edinburgh, Salford and Brighton. Five of the anti-Israel activists had to be removed by security staff, according to the JC.

The arrested man was released that evening without charge.

In September, a group of Scottish anti-Israel protesters similarly disrupted performances by the Tel-Aviv based dance company, which had been performing at the Edinburgh International Festival in the United Kingdom.

The ensemble, which had performed “Hora” at the Edinburgh Playhouse over three nights as part of the worldwide festival, was disrupted on each occasion.

Approximately 100 people, associated with the “Don't Dance with Israeli Apartheid campaign,” reportedly gathered outside of the theatre to sing, demonstrate and burn tickets.
