Other IDF initiated actions in Gaza since yesterday include the demolition of several buildings that had served as PLO sniper positions and as cover for underground tunnels through which arms and ammunition were smuggled into Gaza from Egypt. Army forces also cut off Rafiach, in southern Gaza, from the Khan Yunis and the rest of Gaza, to prevent the transport of terrorist elements. Soldiers also arrested eight Arabs in Rafiach suspected of smuggling arms last night.



An army force operating last night in the Arab village of Silwad, adjacent to the Binyamin-region community of Ofrah, apprehended two terrorists wanted for shooting attacks against civilians and soldiers. A paratrooper commando unit arrested a leading Hamas fugitive during the night near Shechem. Palestinians shot this morning at soldiers in southern Gaza; no one was hurt. The intelligence community continues to receive warnings of additional planned terrorist attacks, and security forces are taking appropriate precautions.



An Arab driver crashed purposely into an IDF jeep this morning near the Tarkumiye checkpoint north of Hevron. Arutz-7\'s Kobi Finkler reports that the jeep, which was not seriously damaged, took off in pursuit of the Arab. The latter managed to escape, however, even after his car overturned during the chase.
