An Israeli was seriously injured in a car accident in Jordan on Friday afternoon, Channel 2 News reported. The accident occurred in an area considered to be popular among Israeli tourists, who frequently go on jeep trips there.
The report said that Jordanian paramedics took the injured man to the border between the two countries, and he was then evacuated by helicopter to the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. No further details about the circumstances of the accident are known.
The Jordanian coastal city of Aqaba, which is connected to Eilat, has become a popular vacation spot for Israelis, due to the low prices in Jordan and the deterioration of the security situation in the Sinai Peninsula.
Most of the Israelis who visit Aqaba, according to the Channel 2 News report, belong to the Arab sector.
In 2010, an Israeli was killed and ten others were injured after a bus carrying Israeli tourists collided with two other vehicles in the Jordanian city of Madaba, south of the capital Amman.
