Jerusalem remains Israel’s largest city in terms of population, according to figures released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics on Monday.

The figures show that Jerusalem, as expected, retains its top spot on the list of the top five cities in Israel, with 804,355 inhabitants. It is followed in second place by Tel Aviv with 404,750 inhabitants. Haifa comes in third with 270,348 residents and it is followed by Rishon Lezion (232,410 residents) and Ashdod (212,278 residents).

The city of Bnei Brak came in tenth, the statistics show, with 163,301 residents. Despite the security situation, the city of Ashkelon which has often been the target of Gaza rocket attacks, has 117,429 inhabitants.

The report found that the smallest community in Israel is Niran, a kibbutz located in the Jordan Valley near Jericho, which has 58 inhabitants. Above it on the list is Givat Shemesh, a village near Beit Shemesh which registered 59 residents.
