MK Michael Kleiner (Herut Party) is calling for an investigation into the sources of the funds for The Peres Center For Peace. Kleiner says that Foreign Minister Shimon Peres continues to evade his queries regarding his sources of funds for the institution, which was established in 1997. Kleiner is trying to determine if funding for the organization comes from foreign countries or parliamentary groups. If that is the case, Kleiner feels that Peres is in the midst of a serious conflict of interests, engaging in business with foreign governments while serving as Israel’s Foreign Minister.
Kleiner has also made a formal request to the Knesset Finance Committee that they refrain from releasing funds to a government minister who refuses to respond to queries of other MK’s or ministers that do not exhibit the proper respect for the Knesset.
