New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind led a group of hareidi Downs Syndrome and special needs children on a tour of Capitol Hill and the White House in the US capital this week,

For many of the dozens of children it was a dream come true to be led through the halls of the White House and learn about each room from a specially trained guide.

Later, the children had to opportunity to sit in a specially prepared section of the Senate gallery in order to observe lawmakers debate and conduct business. Afterward, they were given explanations about the discussions and work they had seen.

At the end of the debate, several senators came to sit and talk with the children. Some of the children told the lawmakers about their special situation, saying that their situation is the result of Providence, and that they have a special mission in God's world.

Organizers told Arutz Sheva the children's conduct during the trip was a genuine sanctification of the divine name, and that they were very proud of them.

Students and parents lavished praise on Hikind, who took the great efforts needed to organize the rare tour on himself, despite the bureaucracy involved.

Hikind said the end-result was a great pleasure for both the students and the lawmakers themselves, who were deeply impressed by the children.
