Israel’s national airline, El Al, launched on Tuesday its newest travel class, Economy Class Plus, which will be offered starting in July.

Economy Class Plus is an upgraded economy class which is separated from economy class by a curtain. It offers ergonomic seats with four inches more leg room, a footrest, one third more seat adjustment, alcohol and a personal entertainment system, among other things. Economy Class Plus has 34-40 seats in the front part of the economy class section of the plane.

In the first stage, El Al will offer Economy Class Plus on Boeing 747-400 jets on routes to New York, London, and Paris. Economy Class Plus will cost $80 more than economy class to European destinations, and $150 more on long haul flights.

According to El Al CEO Eliezer Shkedi, the new service is proof that the company is attentive to and understand the needs of its customers and does everything to provide the necessary services. Economy Class Plus puts El Al in line with 29 other airlines in the world that have already launched such a service.

“We set for ourselves a very high standard of excellence so we can be competitive and maintain our position as the first and preferred choice of travelers to and from Israel,” said Shkedi, adding, “Economy Class Plus allows a larger group of passengers to fly and enjoy a spacious seat.”
