Despite the Election Day curfew imposed on the Arab areas of Judea and Samaria today, Palestinian violence was not totally prevented - and in fact intensified as the afternoon progressed. Shots were fired on Israeli cars near Al Hader, causing the closing of the Tunnels Highway between Jerusalem and Gush Etzion. Arabs shot at the Jewish town of Kadim; no one was hurt. Earlier today, Arabs fired at an IDF force at the Ayosh junction, at the northern exit from Ramallah, south of Beit El. A soldier was injured by rocks thrown near Yitzhar in the Shomron, and a Border Guard policeman was similarly hurt in Hevron.
The latest victim of Palestinian warfare was buried this afternoon in the Christian section of his hometown cemetery in the Galilee. St.-Sgt. Roja Salama was killed yesterday by Palestinian sniper fire near Rafiach, in southern Gaza. Israel then ordered the closing of the PA airport at Dahaniye and the Egyptian-Israeli border crossing at Rafiach. Heavy gunfire raged in Gaza for several hours yesterday, including 20-30 IDF tank shells and a PA anti-tank grenade.
