The Jewish National Fund (JNF), charged with the task of purchasing the land that would eventually form the State of Israel celebrated its 100th anniversary yesterday. Theodor Herzl and the Fifth Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland established the JNF on December 29, 1901. The JNF began to fulfill its duty by collecting coins in blue boxes that were distributed all over Europe.
