At any given moment, the IDF’s Gaza Division is engaged in fighting which includes dealing with explosives placed by the enemy, attempts by terrorists to go near the border fence, sniping attempts on IDF forces and rocket attacks in attempts to harm soldiers patrolling along the border. IDF forces are on constant alert to protect the southern border from infiltrations of terrorists, attacks on troops who patrol the fence or worse, attacks on Israeli citizens.
The IDF’s mechanical equipment engineering battalion, also known as the "Knights of Steel Battalion”, plays a central role in the effort to prevent terrorism from Gaza and continuously participates in the ongoing fighting in Gaza. The battalion operates mechanical equipment and its work is an integral part of the work of infantry forces. In fact, the forces in Gaza cannot operate in Gaza without the “Knights of Steel” which are responsible for opening roads, clearing areas, detecting tunnels and handling explosives.
As part of the improvement and preparedness of the battalion, it held a training exercise on Wednesday evening. The exercise was considered a success.
