IDF head of Manpower General Orna Barbivai took time Sunday to meet with and thank dozens of mayors and local authority heads who oversee the areas with the highest levels of IDF enlistment. The city with the highest enlistment, Modiin / Maccabim-Reut, sends 92.8% of eligible young men to the army, while the top-ranked local authority, Har Adar, has 100% enlistment.
The cities and regions topping IDF recruitment lists not only have high enlistment levels, but also are home to an unusually high number of young men and women who provide “high quality” service, IDF officials said. Many go into combat units or become officers.
In Beit Aryeh, where 90% of eligible youth enlist, 23.8% go on to become IDF officers. In Emek Hamaayanot, where 91.8% enlist, 82.7% join combat units.
Several IDF officials addressed the mayors and council heads and discussed enlistment and the potential for future cooperation. Cooperation from cities and municipal councils helps the IDF to enlist many highly motivated young people, Barbivai said.
The cities leading in enlistment following Modiin were listed as Nes Tziona, Ariel, Yehud / Neve Efraim, Hod Hasharon, Raanana, Kiryat Motzkin, Yokneam Illit, Yavneh, and Kfar Saba.
Leading local authorities included Har-Adar, Kochav Yair, Kfar Tavor, Beit Aryeh, Oranit, and Efrata. Leading regional authorities included Gan Rave, Emek Yizrael, Emek Hamaayanot, Misgav, and Galil Tachton.
