Mitt Romney has won the Maine Republican caucuses, CBS News reported.

“I thank the voters of Maine for their support,” Romney was quoted as having said in a statement. “I’m committed to turning around America. And I’m heartened to have the support of so many good people in this great state.”

Results from the vote show that Romney won 39 percent of the vote, with 2,190 votes. Ron Paul came in second and achieved 36 percent of the vote with 1,996 votes.

Santorum finished third, with 18 percent of the vote (989 votes), followed by Gingrich in fourth place with 349 votes or six percent, CBS noted.

Romney’s win comes after his triple defeat in Minnesota, Colorado and Missouri on Tuesday. Rick Santorum won all three states.

Minnesota caucus results showed Santorum with 44.9 percent, of the votes, Paul 27.2 percent, Romney 16.9 percent, Gingrich 10.7 percent, and others 0.3 percent. Colorado Caucus Results showed winning Santorum 40.2 percent of the votes, Romney 34.9 percent, Gingrich 12.8 percent, Paul 11.8 percent, and others 0.3 percent. 

Santorum also won the non-binding primary in Missouri with 55 percent of the vote.

The next primaries, in Arizona and Michigan, are not for another 17 days. CBS reported that Romney is expected to win the Arizona contest, and that Santorum is challenging him aggressively in Michigan.
