Activists from the Judea and Samaria Residents Councils handed out on Monday flyers to soldiers stationed at security checkpoints. In the flyers, the activists warned the soldiers against the work of a radical leftist women’s group called “Lo Metsaytot.” The group's name means "we do not obey [the law]", making them akin to anarchists.
The members of Lo Metsaytot have been working for over a year to smuggle Arab women through IDF checkpoints in order to have them enjoy the pleasures of life in Tel Aviv and other cities in central Israel. The women members of the organization have also published several ads in the Haaretz newspaper, in which they have openly declared that they will continue their actions because of what they term Israel’s “apartheid laws.”
The flyers given out to the soldiers show pictures of the women members of the organization and read, “Soldier, policeman, do not be confused! This woman is breaking the law, smuggling Palestinian women [past the checkpoints, ed.] who do not have permits and endangering national security! Inspect her thoroughly and do not let her endanger Israeli citizens.”
"We have teams who, for the past several weeks, have been going around the checkpoints and explaining the activities of the women of Lo Metsaytot, to the soldiers," said Netanel Lisha of the Shomron Residents’ Council told Arutz Sheva.
He added that many of the soldiers recognize the women in the pictures, saying they had been at the checkpoints and disturbed the soldiers.
“The soldiers are also somewhat surprised by the information which we present to them,” he said. “We bring this information to them and it helps them prevent these people from staging provocations and letting [unauthorized] Arabs pass through.”
Lisha said that the women of Lo Metsaytot disturb the soldiers at the checkpoints, similar to the members of Machsom Watch, a group of radical left Israeli women who take up positions at IDF checkpoints, bothering and harassing the soldiers stationed at those checkpoints. Soldiers complain that this prevents them from giving their full attention to the possibly dangerous contents of the vehicles they are checking.
“In addition to causing provocations, they try to bring in Arab women who don’t have entrance permits into Israeli territory,” Lisha added. “These women try to smuggle Arab women who don’t have permits into Israeli territory and they even succeed. There is a sort of protest in this. They want to bring them into Israeli territory and give them ‘fun days’.”
There have been many cases of murders masterminded and perpetrated by women terrorists, including the 1978 Coastal Road massacre and the 2001 Sbarro suicide bomb attack in Jerusalem. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written, "The terrorist organizations behind the attacks want to exploit the advantages of dispatching females to perpetrate them... under the assumption that a female is thought of as soft, gentle, and innocent and therefore will arouse less suspicion than a man. In the cases in which females were involved, the terrorists were aware of their need for camouflage that would help them blend in on the Israeli street."
