Negev residents are very upset at the planned nullification of the law granting them special benefits, and many of them blocked critical intersections for short periods throughout the morning. Large traffic jams developed as a result. Be\'er Sheva Mayor Yaakov Turner explained to Arutz-7 today that what is known as the Negev Law \"embraces all the justice that was denied to the Negev for 50 years. It was legislated only five months ago, and contains three parts: a special grant for new factories in the Negev; grants of tens of thousands of shekels for new housing for young couples, and income tax benefits.\" He said that he agrees that the national budget must be cut drastically, \"but they are taking the money from the wrong place. Instead of worrying about the 700 million shekels that the Negev Law costs, why don\'t they cut from the 30 billion shekels that have been given to other interests for 20-30 years?\" He said that Negev would be leaders would be meeting with the Prime Minister this afternoon, and, \"No, there\'s no room for compromise on this matter.\"
