Musician Yehuda Glantz is about to release a brand new album and ahead of that, he’ll be performing in Tel Aviv this coming Thursday, December 22.

Arutz Sheva met Glantz ahead of the concert to hear about his latest album, “Chay Vekayam”.

Glantz’s new album includes 13 songs in Hebrew which he composed and describes as “world music.”

“The album is a combination of Latin rhythms and many instruments and musicians participate in the music,” he said. “We have an animated video that we prepared in two weeks for this album.”

“I think this album presents a more mature Yehuda Glantz,” he added. “The album took some thinking about how I’ll come out with new music. People related to me as an American-style musician but in this album I have put together what I call a ‘Latin Klezmer’ conception of music.”

“Chay Vekayam” comes after six years in which Glantz did not release new material.

“I’ve been producing music but I didn’t release any of it on new CD because we’ve been trying to work with the internet,” he explained. “This is the generation of the internet.”

For the past 27 years, Glantz has been performing all over the world, but he is now choosing to focus on Israel because, as he put it, “It’s time for me to be at home with my family so I decided to do something in Israel. I know that Israel is a small country and that sometimes you work on a project for six months and then you have to do other projects. And I have many other projects.”

“I love Israel, I live here and I love the people here, so it’s an opportunity for me to focus on a new public,” he said.

Yehuda Glantz's concert in Tel Aviv takes place on Thursday, December 22 at the Shamayim Center, located at 41 Melchett Street. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. For tickets call 072-2510031.
