Three American graduate students have launched a new project to help Israeli survivors of terror and their families obtain dental care they might otherwise not be able to afford.
The new initiative, a "Jewish Tooth Fairy Fund," is supported by the Israel-based nonprofit ATZUM organization, the initiative focuses on funding a full range of dental services to the victims and their families.
Rachel Rudman of New York, Dara Freedman-Weiss of Massachusetts, and Dena Rapaport of Washington, D.C. have already begun fundraising for the initiative, with the goal of reaching a total of $50,000 by the end of 2012."Due to the severity of their injuries, survivors of terror frequently suffer from acute dental issues that demand immediate and extensive treatment," said Rabbi Levi Lauer, ATZUM's founding executive director. "We have found that death or injury also leaves families unable to afford even the most routine dental care."
The organization also hopes to identify and recruit Israeli dentists and dental suppliers who will be willing to offer their services at a reduced rate to the survivors of terror, and their families.
