MK Danny Danon (Likud) said Tuesday he does not understand why MKs from Kadima, Meretz and the other leftist groups are so enraged about what they say are "anti-democratic" moves and "stifling of dissent."

"The members of the Opposition want us to sit on our hands and do nothing – excuse me, we were elected to lead the state on the basis of values, on the basis of a public political agenda," he told Arutz Sheva.

"When the Knesset decided to expel Jews from Gush Katif, was that legitimate?" he asked rhetorically. "We did not hear the members of Kadima and Meretz shouting about damage to democracy then."

"We were elected to make changes and lead and we will continue to make laws that will curb the radical leftist organizations. That is precisely why we were elected. The people who want Peace Now to be happy should vote for Kadima or Meretz next time."
