No one was hurt in the following incidents: Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a civilian convoy in northern Shomron late this afternoon... A gas canister inside a burning tire blew up on the Jerusalem-Hevron highway near Karmei Tzur… Terrorists threw a firebomb at Har Adar, northwest of Jerusalem… Arabs fired yet another mortar shell at an IDF outpost in Gush Katif, and shot at other targets in the area…
Meanwhile, Israel arrested a number of terrorists this week: On Sunday, Shomron-Yehuda District police arrested three Arabs at the Allenby Bridge crossing who are suspected of 85 cases of throwing firebombs and rocks. The three Fatah terrorists admitted during their questioning that they had planned suicide attacks as well. North of Kiryat Arba, Hevron police arrested two Arabs and confiscated sniper rifles, ammunition, and forged Israeli identity cards that were found in their homes. Army forces acting on intelligence information also entered Area A east of Jenin during the night, and blew up a bomb hidden in a nearby cave.
In addition, Israel\'s security organs released details about several recent attempted terrorist attacks that the GSS thwarted or were otherwise prevented. These included the arrest of two Islamic Jihad activists from a village near Jenin after their car overturned. The vehicle was actually a 250-kilogram carbomb that they had planned to ram into a bus carrying paratroopers near Sa-Nur. In another case, two members of a Fatah cell from the Tul Karem area, including an Israeli-Arab, were arrested three weeks ago while planning a series of suicide bombing attacks in Israel. Their plan was to drive a suicide bomber to a Petach Tikvah restaurant where he would detonate his charge, and then to blow themselves up minutes later when the rescue squads arrived.
