Arutz-7\'s Kahane also asked Minister Sharansky about his plan to make the purchase of new homes, especially in Yesha, more affordable: \"During the Knesset Finance Committee hearing yesterday, Meretz MK Mossi Raz said that your plan is designed only for the Jewish communities in Yesha. Is this true?\"
Sharansky: \"What Raz said was actually much stronger than that. He said that the entire mortgage crisis in the banks now is because I took all the money and gave it all to Yesha! I answered him that I am proud to be able to help every citizen in the country, both old-timers and new immigrants, in both Tel Aviv and Yesha... We have two projects by which to inject some adrenaline into the ailing housing sector - one in which we have sold 4,000 units all over the country, such as in Beit Shemesh, Karmiel, Be\'er Sheva, and also in Ariel and Maaleh Adumim. The other one is specifically targeted for Judea and Samaria. We invited all those who live in caravans and feel that, because of security conditions, they would like to build a more permanent home that is impervious to bullets, to take advantage of our special offer to do so.\" The conditions are a grant of 50,000 shekels ($11,850), and a 50,000-shekel loan at very favorable terms. \"About 200 people have so far turned to us, and I am very proud of this. The whole project has cost only 10 million shekels, and is very beneficial to the country, while other programs for things such as \'encouraging consumers to buy\' have cost hundreds of millions of shekels…\"
