Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach's songs are among the most well known in the Jewish world. The 17th annual tribute concert in his memory will unite many musicians that played with him as well as younger talent.

BenZion Solomon came with Rabbi Carlebach to help start Moshav Mevo Modiin, located in central Israel. He will perform as BenZion Solomon and Sons, his sons being top musicians in their own right, participating the groups Soulfarm, the Moshav Band and haMAKOR. Chaim Dovid Saracik, also known as Chaim Dovid is another veteran performer who got his start with Reb Shlomo, as he was known. Yehudah Katz played on stage with Reb Shlomo, and after his passing, went on to front the band Reva L'Sheva.

Younger musicians who will perform will be Rabbi Shlomo Katz and Aaron Razel, two of the leaders in a new generation of Carlebach inspired rock and soul. Yitzchak Meir is a local musician. Chizki Sofer is a young singer/songwriter with a striking voice.

The special guest of the evening will be Shlomo Bar, a veteran Israeli pop star who began his career in the early 1970s. Together with his band Habrera Hativit, he is known for his ethnic style which incorporates Sephardic Moroccan music from where he was born, as well as Yiddish styles and other influences.

The Carlebach Tribute Concert will take place Saturday night November 12th at the Jerusalem International Convention Center (Binyanei HaUmah). For ticket information visit http://www.rnyshows.com or call 052-5665600.
