Why did Border Police wake up Hevron widow Einat Noked and her nine children at 5 a.m. Monday to search for her late husband’s missing gun after having previously searched for it?

Her husband died four months ago, after a serious illness. After the seven-day "Shiva" mourning period, the family realized that the deceased’s gun was missing. After a search in the house turned up nothing, the family informed the police, who later questioned everyone in the house and also searched for the gun, in vain.

Around 5 a.m. Monday, the widow was surprised to hear knocks at her door in the Beit Hadassah neighborhood in Hevron.

She opened it up to discover detectives and police “Yassam” special forces. The intrusion woke up her children, including her 18-month-old son who had spent a restless night.

Anat Cohen, a neighbor, told Arutz Sheva her bedroom window is situated over the door of the widow and her family. “At 5:15, I heard knocks on her door. I saw the Yassam forces and asked why they don’t come at a normal hour but they insisted to continue knock hard."

“The children had gone to sleep late, and several of them dearly miss their father who died only four months ago. Some of them sleep in their mother’s bed.”

She added that police have not only previously searched her neighbor’s house but also have questioned relatives under warning.

What is so urgent that they have to come at 5:15 in the morning?” she asked rhetorically. The police claimed that they arrived to serve a subpoena for an investigation to one of the family members.

National Union Knesset Member Dr. Michael Ben-Ari responded, “This is an incident involving absolute insensitivity by the police. Given the fact that they already had been at the home, the additional search is harassment.”
