A survey of the Jewish population of Israel has found that 80% of the population believe that Aliyah [Jewish immigration to Israel] must be encouraged even during these times. The poll, carried out by the Dachaf Institute for the Jewish Agency, found that 63% believe that bonds between Israel and the Diaspora are equally important to both sides; 20% say that the ties are more important to Israelis and 14% feel that they are more important to Diaspora Jews.
