A young man who lost his parents and siblings in a 2001 bombing confronted Noam Shalit in the Supreme Court on Monday, as the court heard an appeal against the mass release of terrorists in exchange for Gilad Shalit’s freedom.
“Your son will come home, will say ‘Hi Dad, hi Mom.’ And then will come the biggest propaganda attack yet” Shuvel Schijveschuuder told Noam Shalit.
“Look us in the eyes,” he continued. “Put a black ribbon on the flag you have put over your house.”
Schijveschuuder and his four remaining brothers and sisters lost both parents and three siblings in the Sbarro bombing. Hamas terrorist Ahlam Tamimi, who helped plan and carry out the bombing and has not expressed regret, is to be released along with 1,026 others in exchange for Shalit.
Shuvel was arrested last week for vandalizing the Rabin memorial in Tel Aviv after hearing of Tamimi’s impending release. Another brother, Meir, said Monday that his family plans to leave the country when the Shalit exchange deal takes place.
Noam Shalit is in court to argue against the counter-release appeals. He previously warned that any delay in the exchange deal could be deadly.
