Following the apparent slaying of a young father and son in Judea on Friday, Jewish residents of the area say it is clear they cannot rely on the IDF to protect them from rock attacks. Instead, residents are planning to defend themselves using a civilian patrol.

“We have no choice but to resume the security patrols along the highway,” said a statement from the Judea Residents’ Council. “Because every stone could kill, G-d forbid.”

Unfortunately, residents of the region cannot rely on the IDF to protect them, the council stated. “The restrictions forced on the IDF make its massive efforts fruitless, and turn the soldiers into mere scarecrows,” the group declared.

While the decision follows the deaths of 25-year-old Asher Palmer and his infant son Yonatan due to a rock attack, it was also influenced by several similar attacks in the region, the council noted. Some of the attacks led to injury.

Civilian patrols have been instituted in response to PA terror along highways in the past.
