Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, IDF Chief of Staff, said Thursday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been preventing "September events" from spilling out of the territory it controls.
"Until now, the PA and its agencies have been working to contain the events within the Palestinian cities and I hope this continues in the coming days," Gantz said.
"I have given instructions to deploy the forces on the ground and be on alert in view of the challenges of the moment," he said. "Besides instruction, training and equipping the forces with the right means – there is no substitute for the presence of mind and determination of our commanders and to their presence at the front, leading the forces."
He was speaking at a memorial ceremony for fallen soldiers from the Armored Corps.
