On August 23, 2011, Camp Simcha, an overnight American camp for children battling cancer and other hematological illnesses, visited the Statue of Liberty to help light up the world.

The campers and their counselors made the following emotionally moving video to empower others to brighten the world for children battling cancer.

Each summer, 400 seriously ill children are treated to an unforgettable, medically supervised overnight camp experience at Camp Simcha, for children battling cancer and other hematological illnesses. Camp Simcha Special, another camp, is for children with debilitating chronic conditions.

At both camps, children and teens trade bleak hospital rooms and doctors' offices for fun, friendship, and hope for the future. Campers enjoy traditional camp activities in fully handicapped-accessible facilities. Talent shows, concerts, and helicopter, hot-air, and motorcycle rides are only some of the many activities enjoyed by campers.

The camps are a program of Chai Lifeline, which has since 1987 been helping families of seriously ill children cope with the crises and challenges of pediatric illness. Chai Lifeline's programs provide support to the sick children as well as to their family members.
