While visiting the preparations for the Adult Bible Quiz to take place in December, Arutz Sheva met one individual who proves that where there’s a will there’s a way.

Reuven Cohen is blind, but that certainly isn’t stopping him from participating in the Adult Bible Quiz. He told us exactly how he overcomes his handicap so he can study the Tanakh.

“I’ve always loved Tanakh, even when I was eight years old,” Cohen told Arutz Sheva. “When I was 14 in Hatzor Haglilit I won first prize in a Bible Quiz in the northern district. Tanakh is an integral part of life. Tanakh is the heart.”

Since he obviously cannot read the words, Cohen studies by listening.

“I have an MP3 player which I got from the library from the blind in Netanya. It contains the entire Tanakh, and I listen. I memorize the text.”

Even the written quiz does not faze Cohen, since his family members assist him, he said.

“If it’s an oral quiz then I manage on my own,” he explained. “If it’s written I bring one of my children with me. Last year my granddaughter came with me.”
