After Turkey issued an ultimatum to Israel to apologize for the blood that was shed on board the Mavi Marmara, National Union MK Aryeh Eldad responded by saying: "I propose to the Foreign Ministry that it answer the Turkish ultimatum with a short telegram – 'go jump in a lake.'"

MK Danny Danon (Likud) responded to the ultimatum from Ankara by sending a letter to United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in which he asked that Turkey be declared a terror supporting state.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has yet to issue a response to Turkey's ultimatum, according to which it will downgrade relations with Israel and possibly begin a "lawfare" campaign against the Jewish state. Turkey wants Israel to apologize for killing 9 Turkish nationals aboard a vessel that was trying to break the naval blockade on Gaza. Israeli soldiers boarded the ship expecting light resistance by self proclaimed "peace activists" but were savagely attacked by an armed mob and had to shoot to kill in order to save their own lives.

Last week, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon told Voice of Israel Radio that he does not believe Turkey will sever diplomatic relations with Israel. However, he said, "if there is no Turkish ambassador in Israel, there will be no Israeli ambassador in Turkey, although we do not aspire to this."
