MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) was repeatedly interrupted by angry activists as she spoke Sunday at an event marking the 25th birthday of abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. The event was held at the Erez Crossing between Israel and Gaza.

Hotovely said in the course of her speech that she opposes the proposed deal for freeing Shalit in exchange for 1,000 terrorists, including mass murderers. The activists booed her and would not let her talk. Hotovely said that she had come at the invitation of Shalit's father, Noam, and that she believes that there are better ways to free Gilad – like worsening the conditions of Hamas prisoners held in Israel.

Noam Shalit said that the time to use pressure of the kind Hotovely mentioned was shortly after his abduction, and that this time had passed.

MKs Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) and Miri Regev (Likud) were also present at the event, as were about 200 activists.
