The blogger who threatened to shoot Sen. Joe Lieberman was arrested and released, but most media either ignored or omitted his “Jew” threat.

Federal authorities last  week arrested and then released Dmitry Dyatlov, 23, a native of Uzbekistan and a resident of Philadelphia, who wrote on his blog earlier this month, “[T]here is, at least, one Jew, who we absolutely must shoot in the face (many times), ASAP: Joe Lieberman.”

The blog also told readers, “Dont do it just cuz I said it (do it because it’s the right thing to do, right now),” apparently referring to shooting the Jewish senator.

He was released on $50,000 bail and was restricted to his apartment until an electronic monitoring device can be attached to follow his movements.

Dyatlov told authorities he did not actually plan to shoot Lieberman but added, “I'm gonna leave you gentlemen with a final thought. In order to fix the system you sometimes need to break the system."

Despite a sated threat to shoot at an American senator, particularly one who was a vice-presidential candidate, media in the United States have largely ignored Dyatlov’s arrest and release. The American Thinker website noted that a short Associated Press blurb told readers that Dyatlov indeed threatened to shoot Sen. Lieberman in the face but that the word “Jew” was omitted.

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) “expressed alarm and concern at the almost-total silence of the American media following the arrest” of Dyatlov.

“Why the virtual silence by the media? Are investigative journalists researching the background of Dmitry Dyatlov?” asked ZOA president Morton A. Klein.

“One would have thought that the arrest of someone openly calling for the assassination of a senior elected official and former vice-presidential candidate would attract reportage from the national press, but it has no,” he added. “This is even more remarkable in view of the attempt in January by Jared Lee Loughner to murder Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and his murder of six and wounding of 13 other people at the scene.”
