A gag order was lifted Monday on a police probe of former President Katzav’s private investigators, accused of harassing witnesses in his rape trial.
The investigators allegedly tried to track witnesses to contradict their own testimonies as Katzav’s lawyers appeal his rape conviction to the High Court. The witnesses complained to police after the investigators did not clearly explain their motives during questioning.
A gag order remains in effect on the names of those suspected of harassment, but police also questioned Katzav and one of his sons, who have not been charged.
The manager of the investigation firm and his son have been arrested but deny the allegations.
