An errant Jewish driver from Netivot almost became another lynch victim in Gaza yesterday. He ended up in Dir el-Balah - from where many mortar shells are launched at Gush Katif - where a Palestinian mob surrounded him and burnt his truck. PA para-military policeman extricated him and brought him to IDF soldiers.



Arabs fired at an IDF outpost near Kakilye late this morning; no one was hurt... Two Arabs were killed by IDF soldiers after they burst through an IDF barrier north of Tul Karem; they refused to stop even after the soldiers fired in the air and at their tires. The soldiers had been briefed of terrorism warnings in the area, and IDF officers said that they had acted properly. It turned out that the two were car thieves driving home with their latest - and last - haul...



An Arab explosives-laden truck carrying dozens of gas canisters blew up yesterday afternoon between Ramallah and Beit El, killing the driver. The explosion occurred only minutes before Gen. Zinni and his entourage passed the spot on his way to meet Arafat... Arabs shot at Israeli motorists near Shechem and near Sa-Nur in the Shomron, and at IDF positions at Dagan Hill (between Efrat and Bethlehem) and near Ramallah.



Three mortar shells were fired at Gush Katif last night, following two earlier in the afternoon; two children were lightly hurt. In response, IDF helicopters attacked a Palestinian Authority installation in Beit Hanoun, knocking out electricity… Elsewhere in Gaza last night, Arabs fired at IDF positions in Rafiach Yam, N\'vei Dekalim, and near the PLO airport.
