Police evicted and detained several nationalist activists after they entered Shapira House in Hevron in the wee hours of the night.
Shapira House was emptied of the Jewish families who lived in it in 2006, following a High Court order.
The activists said that they entered the house in order to “send [U.S. President Barack] Obama and [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu a message for them to understand and internalize, that while they talk and blabber, we establish facts on the ground.”
Several press representatives accompanied the natinalist group into Shapira House and waited with them for police to arrive. In an unusual move, police detained the reporters, too, on suspicion of entering a closed military zone.
Ubiquitous Land of Israel activist Itamar Ben Gvir said the detentions were illegal since no military order declaring a closed military zone was presented, and neither was a court decision ordering the eviction.
