Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon hosted U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg in Jerusalem on Thursday, just prior to the onset of the strategic dialogue between Israel and the United States.
Steinberg said that Israel "should have nothing to worry about" regarding U.S. President Obama's upcoming speech, as "the President has long reiterated his commitment to this region and the partnership with Israel... [He has] a deep sense that our fates are intertwined and our interests are common."
Ayalon said that his discussions with Steinberg and others would deal with regional issues and the diplomatic process, "but keeping the focus on Iran, which still is the main threat to regional, and global, peace and security."
