President Shimon Peres, one of the world's elder statesmen and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate considered by some to be a political giant, was cut down to size Thursday by visitor Arvydas Romas Sabonis, a retired Lithuanian professional basketball player and businessman.
Sabonis awarded a seemingly happy Peres with a shirt bearing his famed number 11.

Sabonis was an eight-time European Player of the Year and played in a variety of leagues, including seven seasons in the NBA in the United States.
Peres's supporters in Israel consider him the country's greatest political leader, while his detractors see him as a delusional appeaser and diplomatic publicity-seeker, and blame him for the Oslo Accords. These agreements allowed terror organizations to establish a foothold in the Land of Israel, and have resulted in the murder of over 1,200 Jewish men, women and children.
