New York State Governor George Pataki, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and NYC Mayor-Elect Michael Bloomberg arrived in Israel today for a one-day solidarity visit. They toured the capital with Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert, including stops at the Western Wall, the Sbarro Restaurant, the southern neighborhood of Gilo, and wounded terrorism victims at the Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center. The visiting officials met with President Moshe Katzav, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, and Foreign Minister Shimon Peres.



Prime Minister Sharon and Mayor Olmert were to light the first Chanukah candle at a ceremony tonight at Zion Square in downtown Jerusalem, with the participation of Mayor Giuliani. Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau and Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer were on schedule to light Chanukah candles at the Western Wall.
