A colorful bus accompanied by clowns and music will, for the third year in a row, make the pre-Purim rounds in Bnei Brak this week, entertaining children and collecting goods for the needy.

The bus is co-sponsored by the Dan Bus Cooperative and the Chasdei Naomi kindness organization.

Thousands of Purim-style food-gifts - mishlo’ah manot – will be distributed by volunteers aboard the bus in hospitals and elsewhere.

The bus will travel through the streets of Bnei Brak on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Children attracted by the music and balloons will receive small gifts as they dance with the clowns and generally add joy to the atmosphere.

“Our objective is to recruit food contributions in a fun, Purim-like way,” Chasdei Naomi representatives explain, “and make it easier both to give and to receive.” Thousands of such packages were collected in last year’s Purim bus escapade.

Chasdei Naomi chairman Rabbi Yosef Cohen praised the Dan company for having initiated the idea: “I am filled with admiration for them for thinking of this original solution by which to gather contributions. This emphasizes the value and strength of such cooperation between charity organizations and commercial companies, and encourages us to continue along this path for the benefit of the thousands of people who benefit from it.”
