The IDF identified a terror squad nearing the security fence between Gaza and Israel on Monday morning and fired at it, scoring a hit. The incident took place in the southern part of the Gaza-Israel fence, near Kerem Shalom.

The terrorists were apparently approaching the fence with the aim of planting an explosive charge intended to harm IDF soldiers.

An IDF force fired tank shells at the terrorists. A hit on the target was identified.

Two weeks ago, a similar incident occurred when an IDF force identified a group of terrorists nearing the northern part of the fence at night. Those terrorists were also attempting to plant an explosive charge for detonation against IDF soldiers. The IDF fired at the terrorists, hitting three of them.

The IDF website said that terrorist elements routinely approach the fence for seemingly innocent purposes, when their actual intent is to place explosives, plan attacks against soldiers and attempt abductions. The IDF views Hamas as the sole organization responsible for maintaining quiet in Gaza.
