There are those to whom aliyah (immigration to Israel) is so important that they are even willing to pay others to do it. The newly-founded Nefesh B\'Nefesh organization \"www.nefeshbnefesh.org\", under the leadership of Rabbi Joshua Fass, has raised some ten million dollars, and hopes to raise ten times that, for the purpose of encouraging Jews to move to Israel. Its goal is to \"revitalize North American Aliyah.\"

In light of the financial difficulties of the aliyah process - pilot trips, buying a home, acquiring and shipping household appliances and furnishings, lost income - which can even lead to a permanent delay in aliyah plans, Nefesh B\'Nefesh will \"provide significant financial assistance to each family [and individual] to enable them to make their dream of Aliyah a reality.\" This assistance, ranging from $5,000 to $60,000, will be considered a grant after the recipients have been in Israel for three years; if they leave earlier, they must return it. The candidates selected for funding will be those with \"vision, talents, and energy… who share the dream of a united Jewry, and who possess a sense of respect, tolerance, and love for all Jews.\" Nefesh B\'Nefesh will also assist new immigrants in finding employment in Israel, and will even offer new immigrants a personal \"Anglo Partner\" who will help them overcome bureaucratic hurdles. The catch? \"Live and raise your family in Israel and inspire and encourage others to do the same.\"
