The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) recently administered lie-detector tests to several senior figures in the the Prime Minister's Office, after PM Binyamin Netanyahu asked the agency to investigate a leak of sensitive information.

The information, which relates to Israel's security, reached the press, and the prime minister - who assumed that only a small circle of people around him had access to it - wanted to know who had leaked it. Among those who underwent the polygraph test were Dr. Uzi Arad, head of the National Security Council, Government Secretary Tzvi Hauser and former PMO Spokesman Nir Chefetz.

The Shin Bet confirmed that the investigation had taken place, adding that it had concluded that the sensitive information had not been leaked by anyone in the PMO after all.

Chefetz announced last week that he was resigning his position as spokesman and rejoining the private sector, after less than two years on the job. "I thank the prime minister for the privilege given me, to serve the country under his leadership, and for the trust he placed in me," Chefetz said. It is not known whether the resignation is connected to the investigation of the leak, and if so - how.
