Activists from Women for Israel's Future (Women in Green) and Professors for a Strong Israel have planned an evening in Hevron during the holiday of Chanukah. The evening will begin with a Chanukah candle lighting at the tomb of Ruth and Yishai.

Photographer Gershon Ellinson will give participants a first look at his work documenting Jewish life in Hevron over the past 20 years. Ellison is planning to publish a book of his work to be titled Foundations in Hevron, but as of yet his exhibition has not been made public.

Professors Ortzion Bartana and Elisha Hass will then hold a symposium, in Hebrew, on ancient Jewish issues in modern life. Bartana will address original Hebrew culture in today's day and age, while Hass will discuss enmity toward Israel in his lecture, “Why in every generation do they rise up against us?”

At 7:30 p.m. Musicians will provide “Jewish soul music,” while organizers provide light refreshments.

Organizers have arranged busing from Jerusalem, the Gush Etzion junction, and the nearby city of Kiryat Arba.
