The Cabinet meeting last night had internal political implications, as well. The Labor Party ministers refused to vote on the matter, after their proposal to delay a decision by a week was rejected. They clarified afterwards, however, that this does not mean that they are resigning from the unity government - at least not now. Minister Dan Meridor (formerly of the Likud, now of the Center Party) was the lone dissenting vote, and Minister Meir Shetreet (Likud) abstained.
