A fire broke out Wednesday on the top floor of the Shalom Tower on Herzl Street in central Tel Aviv. Firefighters are at the scene.

Several people have been treated for minor injuries caused by smoke inhalation. No other injuries have been reported.

Police shut off roads near the 34-story tower for public safety and to ensure easy access for rescue workers.

The Shalom Tower was the first skyscraper built in Tel Aviv, and for several years was the tallest building in the Middle East.

One month ago, a fire broke out in Tel Aviv's city hall on Even Gavriel street. Hundreds of workers were evacuated. The fire did not cause injury, but did extensive damage.
