The Shin Bet has (Israel Security Agency) published its terror statistics for October, and they show a decline of 50% in the number of terror attacks compared to the previous month.

Arabs attempted forty four attacks in October, compared with 88 in September. No one was killed in the attacks. One member of security forces was wounded on October 14 when Arabs hurled a fire bomb in Jerusalem, compared to six Israelis wounded in terror attacks in September. Terrorists did not murder any Israelis in September, but murdered four civilians, including a pregnant woman, on August 31.

These statistics make October the quietest month in 2010 so far.

The sharpest decline in terror activity was registered in Jerusalem, which saw six terror attacks, compared to 31 in September. The high statistic for September is due to riots in Shiloach (Silwan) during that month. Judea and Samaria saw 20 attacks, up slightly from 19 in September.

Gaza terrorists carried out 18 terror attacks in October, compared to 38 in September. They fired three rockets and 20 mortar bombs at Israel in 13 attacks, compared with 16 rockets and 23 mortar shells in September. There were also four incidents of light arms fire and one anti-tank missile was fired.

All but one of the 26 attacks in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem involved the hurling of lethal fire bombs.
