A small group of Greek labor union leftists backed by the Communist party delayed an El Al flight in Athens for two hours Wednesday morning by protesting at check-in counters. The plane, flight 542, left the runway almost two hours late.

Approximately 30 PAME labor union demonstrators, using the slogan “Free Gaza,” were protesting Israel’s “oppressive policies” and blocked five check-in counters at Athens International Airport.

The incident took place at the same time a Libyan ship was trying to break Israel’s sovereignty over the coastal waters of Hamas terrorist-run Gaza. "This was an action taken in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their effort to establish a Palestinian state," union spokesman Giorgos Pontikos told the Associated Press.

Police were at the scene, but no arrests were reported.
